Media makers discuss the creative. communication, and commercial potentials of integrating video and audio into traditionally text-driven publications: newspapers, essays, fiction, textbooks, etc. What's out there now? How does it work? Is it all compatible? Can you read AND watch AND listen to something? How do consumers "read" and engage media? What are the creative possibilities for novelists, filmmakers, etc.?

Join Dave Monahan, chair of UNCW's Department of Film Studies, as he explores these questions with Allan Gurganus, best-selling author of "Oldest Living Confederate Widow Tells All" among other titles; John Jeremiah Sullivan, contributing writer to The New York Times Magazine and GQ, a contributing editor of Harper's Magazine, and southern editor of The Paris Review; John Staton, features editor of the Star News, and Emily Smith, senior lecturer at UNCW's Department of Creative Writing, director of the Publishing Laboratory, founder and publisher of Lookout Books and its sister magazine Ecotone.
